Tips and Tricks for 3D Printing
- Before starting a print, wipe the bed with sanitizing wipes that should be found on the table.
- After cleaning, do not touch the bed with your hands as the oils will make it less sticky
- If the filament is not sticking or coming off of the bed after it is being extruded, try cleaning the bed again or applying a layer of glue stick (glue sticks can be found in the tools bin). Remember to remove the glue stick after you are done by scraping it off with a plastic spatula.
- If the filament is still not sticking to the bed, try recalibrating the 3D printer.
- In the menu, navigate to the Calibration menu
- Select Calibrate Z
- When the extruder lifts all the way up, clean the nozzle and remove leftover filament
- If your print is breaking off of the build plate while printing (and you've tried the previous listed methods of recalibrating and adding glue), consider adding a brim/skirt and/or supports to your print. Prints with a small surface area touching the build plate and very tall prints are especially prone to breaking off during the print, so consider this step.
- If the printer isn't reading your SD card, make sure the card isn't locked by moving the little piece of plastic on the side of the card.
- The sandpaper provided in the tools bin is not for cleaning the printer bed. Use it only for sanding your prints and not a dirty bed. If you need to clean the bed, use sanitizing wipes and the spatulas.
